Villa For Trade
We would like to trade the use of our $2 million villa on St. John in
the US Virgin Islands for the use of a large sailboat or motor yacht.

The Idea:
Our idea is to do a house to boat exchange for approximately one year with another person or couple. The time frame is not an
important factor, but has to be for a reasonable period in order to make it worthwhile for all concerned. This idea is obviously
not a mainstream one and would have to be done with the 'right' party, and details to agree upon in writing by all.
Outline of the Plan:
Our goal is for an interested qualified person or couple to live in our house on St. John for a period of time while we use your boat
for the same time period. The boat can be either sail or power in the 45-55 foot range. If a sailboat then it must be rigged to
be able to handled by two people. The location of the boat can be anywhere in the world. The boat insurance will be maintained by
the owners. We will cover all boat running expenses. Running expenses of our villa such as electricity, telephone, satellite TV
service, propane, Internet and water etc, will be covered by the boat owners. We are responsible reasonable people and details
should be able to be worked out with some other responsible reasonable people willing to be flexible enough to agree to this
proposal.
Luna Vista:
Luna Vista is located on St. John in the US Virgin Islands. It is at an elevation of approximately 1000 ft and faces East into the
prevailing trade winds. The best way to learn about our property is to go to our website www.mylunavista.com. Another website is
www.buylunavista.com. At the present time we rent the main floor about 30 weeks a year as a short term vacation rental. One
option is that we suspend the rental, close up the upstairs and the boat owners live downstairs. Another option is the boat owners
live in our upstairs home and run the rental. There would be compensation for the second option. There can be a certain amount
of flexibility with the living arrangements which would depend on the parties involved.
Our Qualifications:
We are Jan and Bruce Fielding, 56 and 60 years old respectively. We have lived on St. John for the last 8 years building our
home and operating Luna Vista for the last 3 years. Bruce was a commercial salmon fisherman in Alaska for 20 years in the 70s
and 80s, both as crew and owner/operator. He was then a building contractor for 20 years in Washington State. He has owned a
boat for the last 42 years, with power boat and sailing experience in Alaska, Washington State and now the Caribbean. He has a
current US Coast Guard 100 ton Master License with a sailing endorsement. Jan is a veterinarian and has owned boats and sailed
with Bruce for the last 17 years.
